Crazy?

The Man ran across some info for the Tacoma Remodeling Expo and wanted to go.  We have several projects lined up in our heads  for the house so I thought it would be a good idea to go to.  So we went.  I'm glad the entry fee was only $5 cause it wasn't worth much more than that.  Most of the vendors were for remodeling kitchens & baths, redoing you roof and gutters.  Then there were the random jewelry people, along with Scentsy & Mary Kay (don't get me wrong, I like both very much, but at a home remodeling show?)

I was disappointed in the vendors too.  Most of them were hiding behind their tables looking at their phones.  I'm sorry, a show like this is to get leads.  That means you need to be friendly, making eye contact and saying hello and talking to people as they walk by.  I've done fairs and you are there for leads...I even managed to get a few walking around!  Be friendly people!  Ok, end rant...

We didn't walk away with much info.  We did however, walk away with a new floor mat.  Yes, a floor mat.  It's supposed to be a miracle mat and get all the water & dirt off your shoes & paws as you walk across it.  They were doing demos and it worked amazingly well (of course it would!)  You can throw it in the washer & the dryer...and it helps make it more absorbent.  It has a 5 year guarantee and nothing voids it.  After walking by it 3 times and watching and talking, we bought one.  A commercial size one for our hallway that is ALWAYS covered in muddy paw prints.  I'm still in shock about how much we paid for it.  I can't believe I spent that much money FOR A FLOOR MAT!

They say it should be washed & dried before using it but we couldn't wait.  We just put it down.  Miss Molly liked it and thought it might work as her new bed.  It's working OK so far.  I'm going to wash it today and hopefully it will get more water off Molly's paws.

How much are you willing to pay for a floor mat?
What's the most you've ever paid for one?

  2. you know, I've found some great things at the Puyallup Fair when it comes to home remodeling. And the vendors are usually very friendly (sometimes pushy) but they have things from kitchens to bathrooms and outdoor stuff. You should check it out this year.

  3. I think I've paid around $55 for an entrance-way mat for our house when our huge Rotty-Lab Tonka was alive.
He used to head outside, jump in our brook and make a bee-line for the front door which has a big brass lever-type handle. If the door was unlocked, he'd hit it with his big paw, open the door and there was mud..everywhere.

That mat caught most of the dirt unless...he barreled his way in the back door...lolol

And...what did you pay for yours, pray tell??

  4. The idea of it is really cool! One would be super helpful at our back door since that's where Glenda's muddy paws tend to be. Was it expensive?

  5. I think we need one of those since I am always cleaning puppy pawprints {even if we stand an wipe his paws off} but alas, I'm a bit of a cheapskate lol, so I bet I wouldn't be able to spend much on it.

  6. I think it would be worth a lot of money here in my house since I have 3 dogs. I'd probably be willing to pay a pretty penny for it, IF it really did work like you described.

  7. Hmmm. I'm not sure what I'd be willing to pay for a floor mat, but I'm sure I could easily be influenced if I were there to see a demonstration! I LOVE the last photo - it totally made me smile! It's funny how pets are so curious and automatically think that anything new brought into the home is theirs to sleep on/in. Our kitty is the same way.

I'd be interested to see if a mat like that would work for Grace's litter box. We use that "Swheat Scoop" stuff, and although it is bigger than the sand-y type litter, it still gets everywhere. We have a little mat that we put in front of her box that is supposed to keep her from tracking it all over the house, but it doesn't work at all. We are constantly sweeping throughout the day! Do you have a website for this mat thingamajig you just bought?

  8. if the floor mat works like it's suppose to... I think it would be (kinda) worth the money. I haven't bought a floor mat in a while, but think I (kinda) over pay for a bathroom rug I couldn't live without, $49.

  9. Hmmm. I don't think we've ever paid more than $15 for our floormats. But, we did get a floormat for our friends that were getting married (it was the last thing on their registry!)...and that was a little pricy. :)

  10. I've been thinking of ordering one of the bath mats that H2o @ Home sells. I would use one in both bathrooms so my carpet (yuck! Can't wait for THAT home improvement to happen!) doesn't absorb everything and then one for my entryway. We'll see though!
