Thought 1:
I don't get why people are so upset that the Duggers are having another child. We live in the USA, where we are allowed to make choices about the size of our family. Yes, they have a lot of children. However, they aren't on welfare and the state isn't supporting them so I don't see what the big deal is. Do I want 20 kids? NO. But they are not me and I'm not them. I don't watch their TV show but I have seen an episode or two and the kids seem really well behaved and happy. The kids seem exicted to have another sibling. Also, there's something pretty incrediable about the fact that she's been pregnant 20 times (at least....maybe she miscarried and hasn't shared or has and I'm unaware). How incrediable is the human body?
Thought 2:
I feel like it's been colder than normal here in the PNW. I have to admit that I'm not totally loving it. It's not like Alaska cold or even New England cold (well, sometimes) but I just don't like to be cold. I'm so thankful for our spaceheater that keeps me toasty warm without using up all our oil!
I thought I had more thoughts for you but I think that's it for now.
What have you been thinking lately?
I don't agree with everything the Duggars do in their family (let the girls wear pants, for heaven's sake), but having another baby is fine with me. Who are we to be the "pregnancy police"? Michelle actually suffered from preeclampsia in her second pregnancy (her first set of twins), so I don't think it's selfish or whatever.
ReplyDeleteHere's a few articles I liked: her interview with People mag: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20543686,00.htmlAnd this blog post from a Catholic mom of 8: http://www.thecarelesscatholic.com/2011/11/oblivious-idiots.html
Actually, I've been thinking it has unseasonable warm for this time of year. As far as the Duggars go, I too cannot criticize them if they are supporting their own family are not dependent upon assistance. I do think it is a little strange however. Just for info, I believe Michele has been pregnant at total of 19 times. They have two sets of twins. But there was one additional pregnancy. Her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. I think they learned it was as a result of having been on birth control. They were so devastated and had so much guilt that they decided to have as many children as possible. I do wonder however if they have some sort of disorder because I do not think to want that many children is normal behavior.
ReplyDeleteShe HAS had a miscarriage, so she's been pregnant 19 times now (they have two sets of twins). She had a miscarriage after their first boy... she went back on birth control and they thought the miscarriage was "punishment" for playing God and using birth control.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the Duggars. I think they are a little nutso, but I don't really understand why people are upset. I mean they are debt free with soon to be 20 kids, most people with 2 kids can't say the same.
