I, like many others, menu plan. I don’t love doing it. I do it because I hate trying to figure out what to eat everyday and it helps us save money. I was planning for every two weeks. The two week plan would end and I’d put off making another and I’d have to scrounge for food. Which I can do but don’t love that either.
I decided to try something different for 2014. I’m going to plan a month at a time. I’ll shop every two weeks. I’m hoping that making that mid-month shopping list will be much easier since I already have the meals planned out. I’m planning on keeping the monthly lists and there is a very real possibility we’ll eat almost the same menu next year. That would be a dream…to just be able to copy the previous year’s menu and add a few new recipes through out the month. I really hope this works!
Here’s what we’re eating for January.

I'm going to start meal planning for 2 weeks starting this weekend. Planning for a whole month scares me a bit :) I may use some of these yummy recipes!
ReplyDeleteI usually menu plan for two weeks at a time so planning for a whole month is a little scary to me too!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy any recipes you use:) Happy Meal Planning!
Wow, I have a heard time doing a menu plan for the week, let along a whole month! This is amazing. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Visiting via WinedDownWednesday (I'm # 81).
ReplyDeleteHave you made the crock pot lasagna before? I'm hesitant to try it but if it really tastes good and isn't a disaster to assemble or clean up I may give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteThe lasagna that my mom is making will be baked in the oven. The Crockpot Lasagna Soup is outstanding. I've made it 4 or 5 times now and it's a new family favorite!
ReplyDeleteI don't like menu planning but I love not having to try and figure out what to have for dinner right before dinner time and not having to run out to the store last minute haha
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried meal planning before and it sounds like a pain to do. We usually figure out what to eat based on what we have available in the house.
ReplyDeleteI admire your motivation! I don't know why, but just the idea of menu planning exhausts me. I have no issues eating healthy and working out regularly, but ask me to plan dinner even a few nights in advanced and my anxiety levels would rise dramatically! I'm sure I spend too much at the grocery store! Well, maybe one day my mind will change!
ReplyDeleteI don't enjoy the actual menu planning but I LOVE having it done. I love that I don't have to think about once it's done! It's not set in stone and I move things around as I need to and that helps:)
ReplyDeleteWe used to do that. We've found that this helps us save money:) It's really not that hard, I just don't love the the doing it. I do love having it done!
ReplyDeleteHaha, me too!
ReplyDeleteI actually think that doing a month at a time will be easier than doing it more often. At least I'll won't have to do it as often, which makes me happy:)
