This year for Valentine’s Day I’m focusing on the little things. The Man’s schedule is busy and it’s only going to get worse for the next 18 months. I like chocolate (maybe too much) and flowers as much as the next lady but I don’t need them. The Man tells me he loves in thousands of ways all the time.
Love is in the little things. It’s in stopping to pick up more dog food on the way home from work. In the letting the other sleep late even though you’re tired too (someone has to get up with the tired but no longer sleeping toddler!) It’s in filling up the car and bringing a bowl of ice cream into the living room. It’s in the kisses, lots and lots of kisses at random times. It’s in doing his reading homework for his college classes on the loveseat next me. It’s in cooking on weekends and spending time as a family. Love is in the surprise texts and late night conversations.
I see his love for me in the snuggling and cuddling of our daughter, in the tickling of her and in the discipline (Yes, there’s love in discipline.) There’s love in listening to him getting her dressed and doing her hair. I love watching them together, enjoying each other. Daddies and daughters are so special, and my hearts overfills with love as interact and love each other.
My family overfills my heart. For today, it’s more than enough for me.
:) Yes, how sweet it is to have a love that shows up in all these little moments!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the sentiment of this post- and actually wrote a similar one for my Valentines day post as well! Love is definitely all about the little, every-day things, not the once-a-year-obligatory flowers & chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI love love, and I love this post! I've been sitting here this afternoon catching up on everyone's Valentine's Day posts, and I'm LOVING it all!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Love truly is in the little things. Hope you had a nice Valentine's day with your special family1

ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you had a great Valentine's day:)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteWe did! I hope you had a great day too:)
ReplyDelete:) You're welcome!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! I love the little things that add up because they show you 24/7 how much your husband loves you and it doesn't a nationally recognized day for you to have to know that :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the simple things in life! Enjoy every moment of it!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! We show our love everyday and it means so much more. Chocolate is great but getting in the car to a full gas tank or seeing my husband during bath time with my girls trumps store bought gestures any day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the Mommy Mixer last week. Hope to see you again on Thursday :)
