Enjoying The Beach

We decided to stop at a consignment shop we passed a few times on 101 in Gearhard, OR just because it was something to do.  Believe me, neither of my girls are in any danger of going naked.  We were tired from the previous day and a morning walking around Cannon Beach.  So we headed to JoAnn’s (and got more duck fabric, YAY!) and on the way back to the hotel stopped at Watch Me Grow Kid’s Resale.  It’s a fantastic consignment shop! I must admit I was surprised by how much I liked the store. The prices were excellent (I got 11 items for $13.25) and the owner, Tanya was super friendly.  While we were talking with her, she mentioned to us that there was a beach near by that we could drive on and not have to deal with the soft sand like we had to the day before at Cannon Beach.  I love driving on the beach because it’s not something I grew up doing.  It’s pretty common here so feel free to laugh at me because of it.  Mom was all for it because we were in her Jeep with 2 wheel drive.  Plus she had never driven on the beach so it was a new experience for her.

Many Waters Enjoying the Beach

Gearhart Beach is super easy to get to.  From 101, you take Pacific Way through downtown.  At N. Marion you turn right, following the sign for beach access.  At 10th Ave you turn left and follow it to the beach!  While the beach was far from empty it was by no means crowded.  We pulled up to a spot that look nice to us and got out to enjoy the surf.  Nana took Munchkin’s shoes off even though she didn’t want her too.  Munchkin didn’t enjoy walking on the sand so she convinced Nana to carry her.  She got carried right into the surf and had her feet placed in the water.  She was NOT a happy camper.  Nana didn’t care, she kept doing it.  Munchkin would lift her feet up and was yelling “NO! NO! NO WAY!” over and over at the top of her lungs.

Many Waters To The Surf

Many Waters No No No Way
After awhile Munchkin FINALLY stopped screaming and started enjoying herself.  She liked getting her hands dirty with sand and then washing them when a wave came in. If the wave was really big Nana would hold her so she was laying above the water. They were doing this over and over.  Suddenly Nana reached down and pulled out an intact Sand Dollar out of the surf.  It was really special because Mom and Dad used to look for them when they would walk the beach together.  They didn’t find them often.  It was one of those moments where you just felt that that missing person was there.  It felt like Daddy was there or that he sent it for us to find.  The photo that I managed to snap of Nana and Munchkin holding it might be my most favorite picture that I've EVER taken.  I love seeing their two hands together with the Sand Dollar.  It’s just perfect!

Many Waters Sand Dollar

After the not so good experience at the beach the day before, this time more than made up for it.  We had a great time and enjoyed the beach and each other.  I even put the camera away so I could just enjoy the moment.  I can get so caught up in taking pictures that I forget to enjoy.  It was a sweet time, one that I know my mom and I will cherish.  We both think it was the best part of the weekend away!
