MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

It's Friday again folks!  Hope everyone had a great SHORT week.  Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

 1.  Do you set goals for yourself during deployment?  What are some of them?
The last time he deployed we were engaged and I was living on the other side of the country working full time.  My goal was to stay as busy as possible.  Between grading papers, working on lesson plans, starting a home based business and planning a wedding I succeeded.  Not to mention I was trying to spend as much time as possible with family & friends since I knew I was going to be moving cross country.
A half full Jeep.  Can you spot the kitty?
Back in May he went to school for three weeks in NY.  Again, staying busy was the plan.  We had just bought a house so I stayed busy with painting and moving.  I moved the majority of what we owned in my Jeep Liberty (really it's my mom's, but that's a story for another time.) in loads in between packing and cleaning.  When The Man got back , he moved all the furniture.  It worked out pretty well for us!  Is it sad that everything we own can fit in the Jeep (the bed frame and mattress go on top)?  I also spent time with friends...they helped keep me from going crazy with the moving!

2.  What would you say to someone dating a military guy or gal?
Good question!  Being a milspouse has it's ups and downs...but then again, so does marriage.  I would say be sure, really sure that this is the guy/gal for you.  Pray about it, talk about it, seek counsel from others and don't rush.  Marriage is about relationship and it is supposed to be forever.  I know I have an old-fashion view about this but if you are going into a marriage thinking that divorce might be an option down the road, that you probably shouldn't be getting married!
A seasons wall hanging I made.

3.  If you have children, how do you prepare them to move to a new place?
No kids yet...soon we hope!  But one thing I learned from watching families overseas is to make sure you let your kids say good bye to places that are important to them.  Maybe it's a park, or a restaurant.  Go there one last time, take pictures and enjoy the place.

4.  Name one hobby that gets you through alone time.
Only one?!  I love to quilt so that helps me get through alone time.  I've become a social scrapbooker, so I like to do that with friends.  Reading works too.  I love getting lost in a story.

5.  What's the one food you don't ever get tired of?
Sandwiches. I love sandwiches.  Maybe I don't get tired of them because that's a broad food with lots of options but there are times when I crave them.   I like PB & J, club, BLT's, cheese steaks...the list goes on!  I think my love for sandwiches comes from not having them very often when I lived in Asia.  I remember craving certain sandwiches.  I do prefer them on a roll or a hoagie as opposed to sliced bread...though it can depend on the sandwich.  Pizza is a food that takes me a while to get tired of.  And fresh fruit.  What I wouldn't give for some fresh, ripe, just picked mango...

If you want to join in on the fun, head on over to Wife of a Sailor.  Thanks Wifey!

  1. Sandwiches make the best lunch ever! I love a chicken salad sandwich with some bacon on it. Love.
