Milspouse Friday Fill In

Since it's Friday it's time for another Milspouse Friday Fill In.  Head over to Wife of a Sailor to say hi to Wifey & link up!

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In
1.  What is your favorite MilSpouse blog?
This is a hard one!  There are a lot of them that I enjoy.  I hate to pick just one or two!  My favorites include:

~The Annoyed Army Wife.  She's hysterical!  I love that we are about the same age, don't have kids and I just relate to her.
~The Tervo Times.  Sierra's become a friend and I like hearing about what's going on with her family.  It was great to meet her over the holidays.
~A Monkey in the Navy.  A fellow sub wife that I can totally relate to!  We're hoping to meet in person someday when our schedules mesh.  I think it's great that her hubby writes posts to!
~Turn for the Nurse.  She also makes me laugh.  The first post I read on her blog was so well written...she made me cry.  She's very real with her frustrations of Army life.
~Mowenackie.   A fellow New Englander who also makes me laugh.  I really enjoy her writing!

It was really hard for me to make this list!  I follow & read lots of Milspouse blogs and it's hard to pick out my favorites!
2.  What are your favorite perks about your s/o being deployed (we all know there are perks)?

A.  I can eat whatever I want...fresh mozzarella, basil & tomato salad, Mac & Cheese, lots and lots of fresh veggies...

B.  I have the whole bed to myself.  Don't get me wrong, I love to cuddle with The Man, but there are times when I just want to stretch out!

C.  I can clean the house and it will stay clean.  Dishes don't magically appear in the sink, no socks & underwear to put away, tools stay where they belong.

D.  I can stay up as late as I want reading and watching TV.

3.  How long did you date your <significant other> before getting engaged? Married?

The Man & I dated 2 months before we decided to get married.  It took another two months until it was official. Then it was another 12 months before we got married due to a silly deployment.  The only upside was that I had a year to plan a wedding. It also allowed The Man to give his command a 10 month notice that he was going to need time off...they let him take 23 days.  We got married, move me cross country (on our own since I wasn't on his orders) and took a week long Alaskan cruise for a honeymoon.  The date it didn't change (though I was prepared for it too!)

4.  What do you think your <significant other> would do if s/he wasn’t in the military?

I think he would be back in the theatre world doing tech stuff or teaching.  He would be an amazing teacher! If he wasn't doing one of those two things, he'd be making furniture and baked goods for a shop we would be running.

5.  If you could talk to the Secretary of The Navy, what is one suggestion you would like to bring to their attention in order to improve the lives of military families?

It would be nice if they could work on having schedules written in something more solid than Jell-O.  I know that's not going to happen.  I think improved communication would be nice.  Not totally sure how to make that one happen though!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Ooh, I forgot about having the whole bed! Well, really half the bed, since the dogs fill in Chris's spot ;) Still, that's a good one!

  2. Thanks for the shout out! Non-Jell-O schedules would be really nice, but not as yummy.

  4. Oh, an Alaskan cruise sounds like it would make a wonderful honeymoon! I would love to visit Alaska sometime, but what I'm interested in is the bush flying. I wouldn't turn up my nose at aurora watching, either, of course. :-)

  5. I have to admit that I've had ice cream for dinner more than once since the husband left. I do have yet to sprawl across the whole bed though.
