One Of Our Own

One of our own was not OK last night (or many nights before that).  As many of you know, Jessica from {Mis}Adventures of An Army Wife posted late last night that she had taken her life.  My heart was heavy after reading what she has been going through.  Many bloggy & facebook friends contacted the police to find out if she as OK.  According to an anonymous commenter she is and I'm praying that they are right.  It's my understanding that she is getting treatment.  Please keep Jessica in your prayers.

Since the post went up last night support has been pouring out of support for her.  The blog world really is an amazing place.  We let people have glimpses into our lives and we get to peek into theirs.  In the process we become friends.  We may not know their real names or recognize them if we passed them on the street but they are our friends.  They are a support as we struggle with living the life of a military wife.  Ladies, thank you.  Thank you for being there, for reading, commenting and sharing the joy the pain.  Not only mine, but of all of us.  Reading the comments on Jessica's post are encouraging.  If you're in a dark place right now, please go read them.  There are several ladies who have commented that they have been in similar situations... please reach out to them.  I know that they are willing to listen.  I am willing to listen.  There are people who are willing to help you.  Please, please, PLEASE realize you are not alone!

I also want to add that Military One Source is a great resource too. I saw it one another blog (I forget which one!  If it's you, let me know so I can give you credit) and they can provide you with counseling and other resources.  If you've never visited the site go check it out so you know what's available in case you do ever need it.

  1. These resources you have listed are invaluable and I hope someone going through some of the same issues finds the courage and strength to use them. There is help all around but somtimes the mind and spirit are too destroyed to notice. I am a huge advocate of counseling and hope that as heartbreaking her story is and how badly it all could've ended (thank goodness it didn't) it may be what some people going through a similar situation needed to get themselves help.

  2. I saw things on twitter about it and I hadn't seen her blog before, but it just broke my heart. To know that she had been dealing with those things. I'm praying for her.

  4. I'm just catching up with my reading, saw your post and went to Jessica's blog; sitting here, speechless yet thankful that people reached out to help her. Definitely heartbreaking when someone feels there's nowhere to turn and no one to listen and help.

You did a very good thing by posting that information; I pray anyone else needing support will get it. Also keeping prayers and thoughts for Jessica.

  6. Wow... I don't follow her blog but what an intense situation. I would have been freaking out. I'm glad she's still with us.

Thank you for posting those resources. If people need help they should know where to go.

I think all of us at some point have felt very lost and detached feeling there is no place to go. If only they would reach out in other directions they may find help.

---and I know I can call on you if something is going on here. :)

I love to hear your thoughts, so please share! If you know us in real life, please refrain from using our names to help us keep some semblance of privacy.

Also, I ignore comments that only ask for a follow back. The best way to get me to YOUR blog is to leave comment showing that you've read SOMETHING on my blog. Thanks!
