Fall Treats

I love Pinterest.  A lot.  I usually try recipes that I find and sometimes a craft.  Mine don’t always turn out like the pin (read: usually never) but it’s fun to try.  I hosted my church’s Moms play group with week and we had our fall party.  I wanted to have some fun snacks so I turned to where else? Pinterest.  I found two great fall treats that I wanted to try, Candy Corn Fruit Cup and Apple Monster Teeth. Many Waters Candy Corn Fruit Cup Both looked easy so I figured it was ok to try out on my friends!

The first treat I made was the fruit cups.  They didn’t really look like candy corn, mostly because I didn’t put enough pineapple and mandarin oranges in each.  They were for kids and I didn’t want to put too much in.  I waited to put the whipped cream on top and most people didn’t want it.  Oh well, it was still cute.  I hate eating candy corn but love decorating with it so I think I will be making these again, just with more fruit in each cup.  Also more whipped cream, because whipped cream makes everything taste better.  And if you have to share with a toddler (yes, I’m looking at you Munchkin), you’ll still have some to enjoy.

So then I made the Apple Monster Teeth.  Many Waters Monster Teeth ApplesThey required a little more work but are so cute.  They are easy.  The hardest part of making these is cutting up the apple.  I used an apple slicer/corer and got 10 slices out of each apple, allowing me to make 5 sets of the teeth.  I put some lemon juice on the apples to keep them from turning brown.  I lightly patted them dry, otherwise the peanut butter didn’t stick very well.  The best part about doing the peanut butter is that it’s supposed to be messy. Then you put the yogurt covered raisin and another apple slice on top and Voila!  A super cute, healthy snack.  These were a big hit with my friends and their kids.  One of the little girls ate three of them, except for the apples.  She licked off all the peanut butter and at the raisins.  So watch out for that if you make them! Many Waters Monster Teeth Apples 2

Are you making any healthy fall treats?

  2. I agree. The monster teeth are so cute and so easy to do it's a crime not to try it. My daughter loves apples and marshmallows so it should be a hit!
