Day 2 Of The Cross Country Craziness

I'm pretty tired and it's only the end of the second day!  It may have something to do with the fact that I woke up at 5 am.  It was nice to get on the road early and get a great view of the sunrise.

Sunrise in Idaho

I was pretty excited...I love sunrises.  I'm just not normally up in time to see it.  I even thought that maybe I'd be able to cross something off my 101 in 1001 list but since I wasn't able to see the sunset due to SNOW, I can't.  Oh well, maybe another day.

The drive started out with great weather.  Idaho was great.  I loved being able to drive 75!  It was exciting to hit Utah, as I had never been there before.  There wasn't much traffic so that was nice.  The scenery was gorgeous; Dad & I loved seeing the mountains around us, especially when they had snow on them.  It's pretty to look at snow capped mountains.  It's not so much fun to drive on them.  Or in snow.  Which we did several times today.  In the beginning it was  a light snow, very whispery.  One could barely call it snowing.  You could hardly see the tiny delicate flakes.  That snow was fine.  Then we hit Wyoming.  Snow in Wyoming is a whole other ball game.  It would snow, enough to say it was snowing and then it would stop.  The sun would come out.  Then it would snow again.  Then the sun would visit.  Then it would snow.  The road was fine for the most part.  It started to get slick about mid afternoon.  Then once the sun went down and we hit the eastern side of Laramie, BAM!  Blowing snow, slick roads, lots of 18 wheelers and a much slower speed.  We made it through it just fine but I would hate to be on 80 during a big storm.  I totally understand why they would close 80 down.  I'm hoping that we don't hit anymore snow tomorrow.

Since I'm tired and my brain isn't functioning very well, I'm going to leave you with some photos.  And an apology...I'm not going to proof read this.  I'm sorry for any misspellings and incoherent sentences!
