70%

Source
I heard an interesting statistic on the radio last week.  It said that 70% of women ENJOY cleaning their house.  I was surprised that the number was so high.  I know that I don't enjoy/like/want to clean my house.  I like having a clean house and I feel great when it's clean but I HATE doing it.  I don't find it enjoyable/fun/thrilling/exciting in any way, shape or form.

I was wondering what my friends thought so I put the following status on Facebook:  Poekitten heard on the radio that 70% of women enjoy cleaning their house. Are you one of them? I'm not!  I got some interesting responses.  It turns out that most of my friend DO NOT enjoy cleaning their house.  I was happy to see this...it means I'm normal.  So I think that 70% that enjoy cleaning are abnormal!  There was a sentiment that we all like have clean houses.  A few of my friends dislike cleaning so much that they have someone clean for them...I wish we could afford that!  A few friends do like to clean when they get to use fun "toys" like a steamer (cause it's playing with steam fun?!) and a good vacuum.  Having good tools is always a good thing.  My favorite cleaning tool is Comet.  I LOVE Comet.  I'm not sure why I love it so much, but I love having a clean sink.  It makes me happy to know that I have a clean sink!

Do you enjoy cleaning?  What's your favorite tool or supply?

  1. Wow, 70% seems high to me. I guess I can't say that I *enjoy* cleaning, but there are times where I just get on a roll and do more than I intended. Maybe that's enjoyment? But I do enjoy the end result!!

  2. I definitely do not fit in that 70%. I feel the same way about cleaning as you do. I do it because it needs to be done. Do I enjoy, no way. But I like a clean house and in order to have a clean house, someones got to clean it and that someone would be me! :) I have a mild obsession with Comet. Okay, it may be a tad bit more than mild considering I have 3 sinks in my house and each one has its own comet under it. Hah

  3. I enjoy cleaning when my husband and kids are gone (I actually enjoying straightening up and then reading a celeb gossip mag for the remaining time)! It is my only time to put on music and have a little peace. I don't think 70% would love cleaning so much they would turn down a full-time housekeeper either!!

  4. I enjoy cleaning once in awhile but only because I'm a little obsessive about our house being clean. I can't stand clutter or a mess.

  5. I can't stand much clutter, so I put objects away on a regular basis. But as far as actual CLEANING? I'm embarrassed by how much time elapses between vacuums, dustings, etc. REALLY embarrassed. And yet, my shame doesn't prompt me to do it any more frequently.

  6. 70% is a crazy statistic. I enjoy a clean house, but really don't enjoy cleaning....but I have found ways to enjoy it more...for example when I'm doing dishes, I bring out my ipod, strap it to my arm, and jam out with the soapy suds. I also find that having a cleaning schedule, helps. It means you aren't spending your weekends cleaning up stuff from the week, you do it during the week and your weekends are free for projects or maybe big tasks like organizing the closet or something like that.

Anyway, I am following you from the Thursday blog hop and I'd love for you to follow back when you get the chance.

  7. Ugh, cleaning is definitely not my thing. Especially the bathroom, which is kind of disgusting when I think about it. That is probably the dirtiest room in the house. Maybe I need to grab my sponge and bucket right now...

  8. I'm with you...I enjoy having a clean house, but getting there is a pain! I do like laundry though! I like my washing machine and dryer, and i don't mind folding a putting away clothing. That is possibly the only part of house work that I actually enjoy :)

  9. those who enjoy cleaning the house do not waste time on Facebook. Me- I hate cleaning the house and prefer to waste time on Facebook.

  13. I like doing laundry... maybe that's because I never did it growing up. I must admit, I feel I have a sense of control when I clean, compared to the 95% of my life that I don't have control over. Maybe that is why 70% enjoy it? I don't know, but it's quite the interesting topic! Found you on Weekly Round up! Look forward to reading more! join me at The Peacock Tale

  14. Visiting from MilSpouse Roundup!
I think 70% seems crazy as well! I certainly am not a fan of cleaning, especially when my 3 year old immediately destroys all my hard work! Haha. But that being said, I do like the feeling of knowing I have a clean house while it lasts.

  15. Enjoy it? I try, and I do enjoy when it is clean. But no, I would most definitely be on the far opposite side of that 70%.

  17. I'm not sure that I enjoy cleaning, but it is nice and relaxing. For some reason it makes all of my stress just go away! Favorite supply?? Definitely my all purpose spray or disinfectant wipes!
