My Dad

I got a text from my mom Monday evening letting me know that she was bringing my dad to the ER in Boston.  She brought him in because he was  unresponsive.  He's been like this before...in the month leading up to my wedding.  They think it might have been caused by dehydration and high ammonia levels...but they're not sure.  They never did figure out what was really going on.  He's been pretty good for the past year or so.

We're not sure what is causing it this time.  He was dehydrated but they're giving him lots of liquids.  They just moved him to another floor in a different wing of the hospital.  My mom hasn't been in to see him due to the weather.  There's tons of snow and it's starting to ice over.  She's feeling guilty because she hasn't been able to get in to see him.  She's in touch with the nurses and he's resting comfortably.

It's hard being so far away.  There's not much I can do but pray (which I'm doing!)  Even if I was there there's not a whole lot I could do.  Except be there.  To listen, to reassure my mom, to help with the logistics of taking care of the dog, figuring out rehab and all that jazz.

Please pray.  For the doctors to have wisdom, for the nurses as they help him (he has some special issues), for my mom as she deals with the stress and worry, for me as I'm so far away.  Thank you!

  6. Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry to read this. I'll be thinking of you and keeping your Dad in my prayers. I know how difficult (and frustrating) it is to be so far away from family and loved ones during times like these, but you're doing the right thing by continuing to pray - it is so powerful and can have positive effects on everyone involved.

Hang in there, and please keep us posted on any news.
