Blog Coaching {A Review}

 

Recently I was  able to have my blogged evaluated by Kathryn from Singing Through The Rain.  I  won the Spark Your Blog package though a quick Facebook giveaway.  I’ve been in a rut and have been wanting to have fresh eyes look at my blog so this was perfect!

Kathryn began by asking me a few question about my blog, including 3 things that I would like to improve.  I responded to her questions and then she observed my blog & social media (Blog facebook page, Twitter & Pinterest) outlets for a week.  During this time I could have also used her as a sounding board for ideas as well as have her proofread any posts I was writing.  I probably should have used this aspect of the coaching but didn’t.  I tend to write my posts just before I publish them.  Someday I’ll be ahead of the game again…someday!

At the end of the week I heard back from Kathryn.  I think she normally emails you midweek about the items you’d like to improve but it was a busy week for her, something I can appreciate since it was a bit of a crazy week for me as well.  I had had a question about SEO and she gave me some great info on the basics.  I also had homework which included checking out one of her pinterest boards with lots of useful pins.  There are some great articles that I’ve followed the board and have been going back to check them out.  This board is a great resource and I’m thankful that she has put it together!

I also received two and a half pages of tips and suggestions for improving my blog and social media use.  They ranged from simple to more complex.  There were a few that I was like “Duh, why didn’t I think of that?!” That was why I wanted a fresh pair of eyes to look everything over.  I’ve already implemented several of her suggestions and will be working on a few more in the coming weeks.  Kathryn offers a second week of blog coaching where she can help you implement her suggestions and continue to help you with the social media platforms.  I think I’ll be purchasing the second week sometime this fall as I know I need help with some of the suggestions.
