Boy or Girl?

Many Waters Boy or GirlThe Man and I are the impatient sort so we’ve decided to not wait to find out in Punkin is a boy or a girl.  We had our gender ultrasound last week and we are so excited!  I can honestly say that I’ll be happy with either a boy or a girl.

With Munchkin, I really wanted a boy.  I was disappointed when we were told Munchkin was a girl.  I thought it would be so much fun to be a boy mom.  We went shopping after the ultrasound and I got so depressed looking at all the pink stuff.  I cried a little and went to bed a little sad.  I woke up the next morning super excited to be having a a little girl.  I have NEVER, EVER been disappointed again that Munchkin is a girl.  I love having a little girl.  She’s so much fun!  I can’t imagine having a boy at all.  I do feel guilty that someday Munchkin will know I wanted a boy first but I hope she knows how much I love her and how proud of her I am.  I am in no way, shape or form disappointed by her.

I was actually a little nervous for the anatomy scan.  I can’t wait to know what name to call Punkin (yes, we have our names picked out, complete with middle names.  Actually, we have a list of name, 3 deep for girls and 4 deep for boys.  We managed to hash out the list before we were pregnant with Munchkin in an hour and a half.  We’re prepared!  So we already know what the name of our next kid will be too!)  I’m afraid that I’m going to be disappointed all over again because I want both.  I want a boy and a girl.  We’re 99.999% sure there’s only one baby in there.  I think I’ll be disappointed for about 90 seconds and then over the moon excited.  I see good things about having either.  Either way I want Munchkin and Punkin to be friends as they grow up.  I really have no idea how to go about that, but we’ll try!

Later in the afternoon after the ultrasound, where not only did we find our the gender but that Punkin is looking good and growing well.  There is one issue to be concerned about.  Instead of the placenta having three vessels it only has two.  Having two is ok, one going in and one going out.  However it can cause the baby’s growth to slow so we have to go back in mid-August for a growth scan.  Punkin is in the 67th percentile for growth at the moment so we’ll just keep an eye on it.  Anyway, later in the day we met Wifey of Wife of a Sailor and she took some gender reveal photos for us.  We went to Scenic Beach to take advantage of the gorgeous scenery.  It was overcast and windy but we didn’t let that stop us.  So now, in case you’re wondering, here are some of the photos we took:

  8. My first was a boy and I was hoping for a house full of boys. Alas, I have a boy and two girls. I love them all immensely and wouldn't change them for the world. They are truly a blessing in my life and my daughter has taught me so many things about raising children and myself. Munchkin is adorable! Great pictures.
