Bullet Point Friday (3)

I think this is going to become a regular thing cause it’s working for me.  The name isn’t as catchy as my friend Vanessa’s Over a Pint but since I don’t drink much (and don’t like beer, if I’m honest.  Except for the this one Belgian Raspberry beer.  That stuff is delicious!)  I can’t steal her idea.  So we’ll stay with my boring title until I get some inspiration for a better one!

~I did something to my back yesterday and it’s KILLING ME.  It hurts to bend over or to lift my right leg.  It’s my lower back on the right side.  I was hoping that sleep would help but it didn’t (wishful thinking, right?!)  I should probably go to the chiropractor.  I’m on my own for most of the day so we’ll see how it goes.  I might have to teach the kiddo how to climb up to the changing area.

~I’m super excited to cloth diaper again!  I was able to get a small cover and some newborn prefolds off a local page and I’m so excited to put them on Punkin!  I’m also going to try making a few covers.  Is it crazy to be excited to about something that’s going to get pooped and peed on? Maybe!

~My two year old loves ice tea.  Nana has been sharing hers and Munchkin keeps asking for it!  I think I’m going to get some decaf tea and make her some so she can stop asking and we can both be happy!

~It’s August!  I’m so excited it’s another month.  It means I’m one month closer to meeting Punkin, one month closer to not being pregnant anymore, one month closer to being able to eat carbs again, one month closer to cooler weather.

~Peanut Butter is my new BFF.  I’m loving eating a big spoonful right out of the jar.  I’ve had to introduce this to Munchkin cause she always wants a bite out of my spoonful so now she gets a kid size spoonful.  Like Mama, Like Daughter!  That apple didn’t a fall far from the tree at all.

~Since carbs are no longer my friend, I’m in need to a few new recipes.  Anyone have a carb free/light recipe that you love?  I’m getting desperate over here.  We can only eat so many hot dogs, grilled chicken and  salads.  HELP!

~Happy National Breastfeeding Month!  I’m looking forward to nursing again.  I love breastfeeding so much more than I ever thought I would.  Nursing Munchkin was pretty easy so I am a little nervous that nursing Punkin is going to be harder but that’s not going to stop me.

~I tried zucchini pizza and noodles this week.  While both were good, neither really replace the original.  Can you tell I’m a sad panda and am missing carbs?

Hope you have a great weekend Friends!

  1. I don't know if you're familiar with the Trim Healthy Mama book, but there are boatloads of blood-sugar-friendly recipes in the book. On Pinterest, follow "Trim Healthy Mamas"; it has hundreds of pins with links to the recipes. "S" recipes are low-carb, higher in fat; "E" recipes are higher in slow-burning carbs, low fat; "FP" recipes are high in protein, low in both carbs & fats. Since they use no refined sugar or quick-burning sweeteners and rarely any kind of grain-based flours, the impact on your blood sugar is gentle.

One of our family favorites is THM-inspired Spaghetti Chicken - chicken breasts, no-sugar-added spaghetti sauce, salt & pepper to taste, chopped onion, some minced garlic, all in the crockpot for 6ish hours on low, shred chicken in the sauce and serve it all over a delicious pile of steamed spaghetti squash.

  3. I LOVE carbs but I've been trying my hardest to either avoid them or choose the best that I can get. I've been doing a lot of lettuce wraps and bowls that have big bases of veggies.

And sometimes you just need to treat yourself.
