A Month of Thanks; Good Roads

I'm thankful for a good highway system.  It may seem like a strange thing to be thankful for but after a cross country drive and one coming up soon, it's nice.  I've driven in countries that don't have great highway system and let me tell you it's not fun.  Roads full of potholes make for a long, bumpy ride.  I know that not all of the roads in the US are well taken care of.  It's nice that many of them are.

For our upcoming road trip we're taking the LONG way back to WA.  We're stopping in northern Texas in a town called Amarillo.  The Man stopped there years ago when we was driving to NC from OR with his brother.  There's a restaurant that he wants to stop at.  Yes, we're going all the way to TX to eat in a restaurant.  And to avoid snow.  I'm excited cause I'm going to get the see the arch in St. Louis and we're going to spend a couple hours at the Grand Canyon.  I've wanted to go for a long time and am excited that it's finally going to happen!

So with all with road tripping, good roads are important!

What's your favorite road to drive on?

  1. I have a favorite road in Virginia...which I'll probably never drive on again, but that's okay.

While you're in Amarillo - get a can of spray paint and go wild at the Cadillac Ranch. Awesome roadside diversion! http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2220
