#reverb 10; Make

Prompt: Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

The quilt my mom made with some cute kitties
I'm having a hard time remembering the last thing I made...it's been too long.  I do remember some of the things I've made in the past year.  I enjoy sewing and I created a few table runners and place mats.  I've worked on a few quilt tops.  I have several tops finished that just need to be quilted.  I have a new quilt for our bed that desperately needs to be finished as the one we're currently using is well loved.  It's so well loved that it has a few holes in it. Not small holes either...large ones.  My mom made it for me for my 21st birthday and it's been in use since then.

The quilt I made for The Man
I've also enjoyed getting a little crafty.  I made some wooden candy corn and refinished a stool.  I have a chair that I'm going to refinish and I'm excited to work on it.  I saw a great chair at Pier 1 that had Asian silks for the seat part.  When my mom visited me in Nam back in 05 she went on a silk buying binge.  She hasn't used a lot of it and let me raid her stash.  I'll be working on the after the 1st of the year.  I'm excited to see how it will come out.

There are many things I want to make!  I need to get my sewing room organized so I can get creative again.  I have a few quilt ideas floating around in my head as well as some stuff for the house. I recently picked up a remnant of fabric from JoAnne's for a table runner.  I also got some material while I was home for a few more place mats.  Not that I need any more!  I also would like to make a few pillows for the living room.  I may make a curtain or two for the doors.

My prefer to work with material.  I love sewing.  I'm not a perfectionist.  Hiding mistakes in fabric works great for me.  I might not have a perfect 1/4 inch seam but I'm consistent.  I love putting colors together.  I gravitate towards batiks and Asian fabrics.  I love the rich, deep colors.  I have other materials in my stash but that is what makes up most of it.  The Man may think that I have too much fabric...I only have a tub.  Or two.  Maybe three.  But one of those is all Christmas fabric so it doesn't count.

As for something I want to make, I have two fake, white wreaths.  They are kinda hideous but they were free.  I want to make them pretty but just haven't gotten to them yet.  I'll get there.  If I can get some red and green yarn I'll also crochet a doily or two.

  1. I'm a fabric whore, too. One tub of fabric is definitely not enough - you just need to find more hiding spots. I have fabric all over the house, that way OccDoc never really knows how much is out there. He he! I'm sneaky.
