I Miss...

So The Man is barely gone but still I miss him.  The first night was fine, just like a duty night.  Every night since then has gotten a little harder.  I hate going to bed alone.  Not that I'm necessarily alone as Miss Molly has conned her way onto the bed each night.  She has known since the first night that The Man was away for awhile.  The Man told her before he left.  He got down to her level and told her that he was leaving and that she needs to take care of me.  Her version of taking care of me includes sleeping on the bed.

Come On Get Higher by Matt Nathanson was on my "The Man is gone" playlist on his last deployment.  It was one of the first songs that Pandora played after we left.  The first stanza gets me every time.

Sorry it's bigger than my middle column!

I miss the sound of your voice
And I miss the rush of your skin
And I miss the still of the silence
As you breathe out and I breathe in

If I could walk on water, If I could tell you what’s next
Make you believe, make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just throw me down hard
And drown me in love

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just throw me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the sound of your voice
The loudest thing in my head
And I ache to remember
All the violent, sweet,
perfect words that you said

If I could walk on water, if i could tell you what’s next,
make you believe, make you forget

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to throw me down hard
And drown me in love

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to throw me down hard
And drown me in love

I miss the pull of your heart
I can taste the sparks on your tongue
I see angels and devils
And God
when you come on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on - HOLD
Singing shalala la
Singing shalala lala
Ooooooo
Ooooooo
Oooooooooooooooo

Come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to throw me down hard
And drown me in love

So come on, get higher, loosen my lips
Faith and desire in the swing of your hips
Just to throw me down hard
And drown me, drown me in love

(come on get higher, loosen my lips)It's all wrong
(faith and desire at the swing of your hips)It's all wrong
(just to throw me down hard and drown me in love)It's all right

So, come on, get higher
Come on, get higher
'Cause everything works love
Everything works in your arms

  2. I love this song--Pandora played a Sugarland cover of this song a while ago which was also very good!

When J and I dated long distance our song was Michael Buble's Home. My friend's song was Gavin Degraw's Lover Be Strong...I think every couple who experiences separations or periods of long distance has a song, no?

  6. I love this song, but so wish you were posting it for another reason:( I'm sorry girlie! Sending you hugs!!!!! The first month is always the worst. I hate the nights too. That is why I wear myself out to the point of exhaustion, so when I lay my head down, I can't think about anything, I immediately just fall asleep.

Let me know if you need anything!
Thanks for linking up this week!!!!!! Hugs and more hugs!

  7. Great, great song! Reminds me, in a way, of a song I love by Darryl Worley..."I Miss My Friend". Kind of applies to anyone you might be missing..

    Hugs,
    Patty
