Eighteen Months

Munchkin is eighteen months old now.  I know I shouldn’t be surprised at how much she is growing and changing but I am.  I’ve said it before and it’s still true.  I love being her Mama!  At her 18 month doctor’s visit, the pediatrician told us that she looks great!  Munchkin is 30”5’ inches and weighs 21.5 pounds.  She’s not going to be tall, but then we knew that!

Many Waters Eighteen MonthsThe little girl loves to spin and climb and march.  She’s trying to jump and I think she’ll have it soon.  Whenever she hears music she dances.  She’ll dance when we’re singing hymns at church, to music on the radio or when it’s playing in TV or on a movie.  Speaking of movies, The AristoCats are her favorite.  She’ll point at the TV and say Kitties!  She’s also been enjoying The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.  I’m thankful for Netflix! I love not having to own all these movies.

Munchkin is a animal lover.  She loves to give her kitties and puppies kisses and hugs.  She’ll give her stuffed animal and little people animals kisses and hugs as well.  When she’s in the right mood, she’ll give us lots of hugs, kisses and snuggles (or nuggles as we call them.)  She’s been a little partial to mama lately but Daddy and Nana do get love too.  A few times now she’s pointed at a monkey or a gorilla and said Daddy!  I guess she thinks he’s hairy.  If you ask her what a monkey says she’ll scratch under her arms and make monkey sounds.  It’s adorable.

Many Waters Loving Her Furbabies

Munchkin’s vocabulary is exploding.  It seems like everyday she has a new word.  She wakes up asking for her “kitties” and her “Jo-Jo puppy”  and doesn’t stop talking till she falls asleep.  Her other words include ball, daddy, mama, mommy, nana, oatmeal, baby, bird, nose, ear, eye, no, Minnie, mine, eat, yummy, hat, Poe-Poe, bye-bye, out, shoe, her nickname and a few others that I can’t remember at the moment.

She loves to touch your eyes, nose, ears, mouth, tongue, teeth, head, shoulders, hands, fingers and feet as you say the word.  She likes to touch hers too.  We’re currently working on knee and elbow.  I’m enjoying that she is able to understand simple commands, like “put the book away” or “bring me your sneakers. “ She likes to pretend she doesn’t understand what you’re saying when she doesn’t like what you’re saying, like “pick up/put away your toy.”   She’s pretty smart, that kiddo of mine.

Many Waters Sweet SleepShe’s so smart that her new favorite word in “No!”  When she says it, it sounds more like “Nnnooooooo!”  It’s cute and it can be hard to not smile or laugh when she says it.  What isn’t so cute is the tantrum that often goes along with it.   She’s not enjoy going to sleep, for either nap or bed time.  It doesn’t matter who puts her to bed, crying accompanies it.  It breaks my heart.  I’m hoping she’ll like going to bed again soon.  I have a feeling we will be in this stage for awhile but a Mama can hope!

Happy 18 months Munchkin.  We love you lots and lots!
