Haystack Rock

On our way back to Seaside from our morning at the Tillamook Cheese Factory we stopped in Cannon Beach.  Mom wanted to see Haystack Rock, a well known tourist destination on the Oregon Coast.  When The Man, Punkin and I visited in April we didn’t see it so it was a new sight for me.  I was a little tired from the factory tour but am always up for the beach.  I just love the ocean so I wasn’t going to say no!

Munchkin wasn't her usual self this day.  She was really wanting to ride in her stroller which was so weird.  So we decided to bring it along since Mom didn’t want to carry her all that way and I can’t (my baby belly just can’t take it holding/carrying her for more than 5 minutes anymore.)  But low and behold, once we hit the sand there was MILES of soft sand that hates strollers.  Ok, there wasn’t miles but there was a lot.  So Nana carried Munchkin while I dragged the stroller behind me.  It tool me awhile to get it to the nice, hard, water packed sand.  So the moral of this part of the story is this: LEAVE THE STROLLER AT THE CAR.  I was totally wishing I was still babywearing Munchkin.  We stopped a when she was a little over a year.  I will NOT be making that mistake with Punkin!

Munchkin refused to take her shoes off.  She wanted nothing to do with the sand or the water.  She did run back and forth between Nana at the water’s edge and me further up the beach.  Once we decided to walk a little she was super excited to get in the stroller again.  So maybe it was worth it?  Well, it was worth it until we had drag it back out. Munchkin really wanted to ride it in again on the way out so Super Nana dragged her and stroller for a bit.  We were both hot and exhausted by the time we got back to the road.

So while Haystack Rock was gorgeous it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been.  So now we know for next time!

  1. LOL I have made the mistake of bringing a stroller to the beach..and yes, babywearing is just SO much easier on many occasions! I've been "lucky," my older daughter is petite so at 2 1/2 she's 23 lbs. Her little sister, who is 6 months, is coming on 19 lbs. I wear the baby all day every day and the toddler upon request. But I'm very sure things will be a little different once #2 overtakes #1 in weight..

Also, I love Cannon Beach. We used to live in the Portland area and we never took the trip down, but now with 2 kids I have the longing to show them what a real beach is.

  6. Munchkin is only 23/24 pounds too but man, she was heavy! I'm wondering if she'll want to be worn once she sees me wearing her sister!

It was gorgeous! I can't wait to go back. I'm hoping we can make it a yearly event!

  7. It is so pretty! I can't wait to go back. It's not all that far for us so I'm hoping we'll be able to make it down at least once a year.

  8. I'll have to remember that tip about the jogging stroller! We have one but it was in my van at home. We keep the little on in Nana's car...live and learn:)
