Minnie & Friends

The first thing we had scheduled for our trip to Disneyland was a character breakfast.  The Man, Nana & I were all excited for Munchkin to meet some of her favorite characters and we thought that this would be a perfect way to do it.  We decided on the Minnie & Friends breakfast at the Plaza Inn at the end of Main Street in the park.  I’ve done several character meals at Walt Disney World and I was expecting to see four characters.   I was blown away by the number of characters that visited us while we ate breakfast!  We had twelve different characters come by our table.  It was hard to find time to eat because there was always someone new coming by!  We had an 8:40 reservation and when we got to the restaurant it was pretty empty.  So several of the characters came by our table two and three times.

Cake Smash

One of the things I was looking forward to most about Munchkin’s birthday most was the cake smash.  We talked about the cake for weeks beforehand.  The Man wanted to make the cake and I thought that was a great idea.  Then about a week before her birthday he fractured his knuckle on his right hand.  He’s right handed.  I thought maybe he wouldn't want/be able to do the cake.  I was wrong.  He said he could still do it.birthday 4

He did an amazing job on the cake.  It took him 4 hours since he had to do it left handed.  I know I couldn’t decorate it like that with both my hands. It was big cake but it was all Munchkin’s!

She was tired but we decided to give her the cake anyway.  I stripped her down because we had a personalized onesie on her and I didn’t want it to get ruined.  We had our cameras ready and were excited for her to dig in…

She touched it and wasn’t sure about it.

birthday 6

Munchkin tasted it as still wasn’t sure.  She decided that she wanted her daddy.  The Man got down and she climbed on his lap.

birthday 7

She shared some of the frosting on her fingers with him.  I broke off a small piece of the bottom and tried to get her interested and she wanted nothing to do with it.  We decided on to push it and to try again later.

We tried again a couple of days later and she still didn’t want it.  She did however, want the grapes that Nana was eating.  So my kid doesn’t like cake and prefer fruits and veggies.  I can’t say I’m surprised as I didn’t eat birthday cake for years.  I didn’t even eat my own as a kid.  I always wanted fruit instead.  So this apple didn’t fall far from the tree at all!

Turning 1

Munchkin turned one this past weekend.  I’m not sure where the past year went.  Munchkin has gotten so big and is learning so many new things and I love it.  I’m loving this age and her even more.  There are sounds that seem to be words coming our of her mouth (dad, mama, baby, meow, woof) and she loves pointing to things.  She’s just so fun!

We had a small party for her.  She LOVED the Minnie Mouse birthdaydecorations!  I put a few up the day before the party and she kept pointing at them.  She kept babbling away to Minnie and smiling at her.  We also got some balloons and she loved those as well.  The big Minnie Mouse one is on the living room and she keeps looking up at it, pointing and babbling.  It’s so cute!

It was a nice relaxing afternoon with friends and family.  It was a perfect way to celebrate her first birthday!  I took tons of photos but I won’t share them all,  just my favorites!

Once we managed to get her presents open and the wrappings away from her, she realized that she liked her presents.  She loved the farm and little people we got at the rummage sale.  She was spoiled and got her first American Girl doll (a bitty baby) and a water table, among other things.  We have been enjoying all our new toys!

Running

About a month ago I shared that The Man talked me into doing a Tough Mudder.  There have been some changes to that.  As in that while we still want to do a Mudder, it just isn’t going to happen this year.  I have a 2 week cross country drive and a week cruise happening in the 2 months before it and The Man has fractured his hand.  Our goal is for us to tackle the Mudder in 2014.

The good news is that even with the Mudder not happening this year I’ve still been running.  I’m very proud of myself.  It’s been a huge help that I’ve been running with my friend Stevie.  It’s nice to run with someone and have them hold you accountable and encourage you!  It’s also great that we’re both about the same level.  Runner we are not (yet).  We’ve extended each week of the C25K but we have been faithfully running.  We start week 4 on Monday.

The first few runs were torture but they’ve gotten better.  I actually look forward to running though I’m usually wondering why while I’m doing the actual running.  My body has began to change and I love that I can tell.  Even though running for 3 minutes is still not easy for me, I’m starting to set big goals.  They start small with my first ever 5K in December.  After doing a few 5K’s I’d like to do some 10K’s.  Then the Tough Mudder (so maybe it will be 2015, especially if I get pregnant).  Then after the Mudder….The Disney Princess Half Marathon.  If I’m going to run 13.1 miles there’s going to have to be a lot of magic so Disney is the place to do it!  My ultimate goal to do do all of these races before I’m 40.  So I have six and half years.  I think it’s very doable!

Do you have any running/exercise related goals?

Kisses

While we were at California Adventure in California I was able to cross off another item on my 101 in 1001 list!  I'm very happy to cross off #37. Kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel.

Poe, The Man and the Wheel
It's not exactly a Ferris Wheel....but it's close enough.  I figured that since I wrote the list I can decide what qualifies!  The wheel is pretty cool.  There are swinging and non-swinging gondolas.  We rode it twice and both times we rode in the swinging gondola.  You don't go as high as the non swinging but it's more fun to swing!

The kiss
Of course I had to take pictures from the top:

I really liked the wheel!  Here's what it looks like at night:
