Thoughts for Today

FOR TODAY. April 25, 2011

Outside my window...it's a gray, overcast PNW day.  It's raining at the moment and is slightly chilly (for me, that means it's in the 50's)

I am thinking...about how much I miss being able to smell.  I still can't smell due to this cold that's taken over my body.

I am thankful for...Easter and Jesus and knowing that I'm redeemed.

From the kitchen...dinner is going to be scalloped potatoes with ham and maybe peas on the side. 

I am wearing...yoga pants, t-shirt and a hoodie.  I'll shower when I'm done cleaning.

I am creating...The Man would like to take the quilt I'm making him on his TDY.  I started it last year and haven't finished it yet.  I need to wash & dry the backing material so I can get this thing quilted!

I am going...no where today.  I like having days at home!

I am reading...a book on my kindle.  I don't remember the name and don't want to get up to get it.  It's about a NCIS team investigating arms sales.  It's ok for a free book.

I am hoping...that this cold will go away soon and that The Man doesn't have to work late today.

I am hearing...a Numb3rs episode in the background and Molly making noises while she's dreaming.

Around the house...I need to clean!  I haven't been since I've been feeling sick.  I'm also rearranging the living room.

One of my favorite things...time with The Man.  Dying Easter Eggs.  Sunshine.

Thoughts for Today

I haven't done a Simple Woman's Daybook in awhile and thought that today would be a good day for one.  It's a gorgeous Saturday and I'm unexpectedly at home.  It's the little things!

FOR TODAY,

Outside my window...it's nice and sunny.  Spring is starting to arrive and I'm enjoying a break from the rain.

I am thinking...about what I need to do for my party tonight.  I'm also trying to figure out why my lower back is bothering me.

I am thankful for...the fact that The Man is on leave!  His schedule has been really hectic for the past month and I feel like we've been ships passing in the night this past week.  Or maybe it's passing during the day since I've only seen him at late at night.  We'll be staying at home because he still has stuff at night but he'll be home during the day.  I'm very glad I set my own work schedule!

From the kitchen...nothing at the moment.  But I'm making creamy lemon-pesto Chicken & linguine at the party tonight.  It's so yummy.

I am wearing...comfy clothes...gray yoga pants, a red fleece and furry flip flop slippers.

I am creating....stuff in my head.  I have a few wall hangings coming together in my head as well as some baby gifts.

I am going...to Salem, OR (soon) to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday.  I know Miss Molly is looking forward to it too...she loves to ride in the car.

I am reading...Little Women.

I am hoping...for a few things.  I'm going to keep them in my head for now.

I am hearing...Bones season 4 is on in the background.  I also hear Alleycat getting into papers that he should be leaving alone.  He likes to explore and it sometimes gets him in trouble!

Around the house...fur.  I need to vacuum again even though I did yesterday.  There's also some clutter I should get rid of.

One of my favorite things...warm green ginger tea.  Reading on my kindle.  Getting kitty cuddles and some puppy love.  Getting kisses from The Man when he come home.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Spend time with The Man!  I'm babysitting on Tuesday and Thursday all day but the other days will be at home.  I have several things I'd like him to do around the house.  If the weather is nice hopefully we'll be able to take Miss Molly out to play.

FOR TODAY, November 15, 2010

Outside my window...it's overcast and I think the sun is trying to break through.  I'm in MA and most of the trees are bare and a little sad looking.  It's not too cold out-I was comfortable in a sweater with no coat.

I am thinking...how some things change and others stay the same.  I'm in my hometown where I spent my childhood and worked for a few years in my 20's.  I went to the grocery store over the weekend and ran into 2 former coworkers and saw several former students.  I was expecting it but was still a little surprised that it happened after being away for more than a year.  The town still looks the same for the most part.  I still know my way around.

I am thankful for...family & friends.  I had an Open House at my parent's last night and it was wonderful to see the people who came.  I felt very loved!

From the kitchen...I'm not cooking today!  At my request, my dad is making baked Mac & Cheese.  I love my dad's Mac & Cheese.  I'm going to enjoy every bite since I don't get to eat it often.  The Man doesn't like it so I don't make it at home.

I am wearing...jeans, a blue sweater and brown flats.

I am creating...I'm going to be helping my mom do some crafty projects for her walls while I'm here.  I just need her to decide what pictures she wants to use!

I am going...to meet my mom for lunch.  I think we're going to Panera...I haven't been there in a while and I'm looking forward to it.

I am reading...I'm reading Harry Potter again.  I can't wait for Friday!

I am hoping...for good fellowship with family & friends while I'm in MA.

I am hearing...kids talking.  I'm in a bookstore using the free Wi-fi!

Around the house...I think The Man is doing some stuff to surprise me when I get home.  I'm looking forward to seeing what he's done!

One of my favorite things...crisp fall New England days.

A few plans for the rest of the week: seeing as many people as I can!  I'm having lunch with my former roommate, dinner with my director, dinner & bible study with mom & her 3 best friends, doing a party and having tea with a good friend.

FOR TODAY, October 12, 2010

Outside my window...the sun is shining through the windows.  I can see the leaves turning on the trees- there are some yellows and just a tiny bit of red.  I can she the sun shimmering on the water in the sound.

I'm thinking...how nice it is to have my husband home for the morning; I love surprises!  I'm also thinking about what I'm doing today...going to the post office, touching up the paint in the sewing room, doing some crocheting and trying to figure out what to make for dinner!

I am thankful for...the things I listed in this post.  My husband, our family, that we have shelter and food and clean drinking water.  I"m thankful I have a God who loves me.

From the learning rooms...I'm still practicing my crocheting.  

From the kitchen...The Man added a cabinet next to the stove and I'm loving the extra counter space.  I've decided on meatloaf for dinner.  I have meat thawing and sauce cooking in the crock pot (I use sauce instead of ketchup in my meatloaf.)

I am wearing...black and white yoga pants and a red t-shirt. 

I am creating...a creative space in my sewing room.  I need to finish painting the trim and The Man needs to finish up the crown molding.  I can't wait till it's done and I'm able to sew and craft to my hearts content.

I am going...to be cooking dinner later, working on my Halloween doily and playing with the puppy.  I'll also be spending time on the computer...too much probably!

I am reading...the bible.  A book on prayer.  I'm in need of something new to read.  Any suggestions?

I am hoping...that we can buy planes tickets soon. 

I am hearing...Miss Molly licking her paws even though I keep asking her to stop.  Her allergies must be acting up.

Around the house...is an improved kitchen, a sewing room that's coming together and the rest of the house that needs to be vacuumed.  The pantry is cluttered and it's starting to get to me...I may declutter it later today!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Tomorrow the puppy & I will spend some time with friends, Bible study, finishing up the sewing room, and crocheting.

Simple Woman's Daybook

 FOR TODAY, September 22, 2010

Outside my window...It's sunny and I'm betting it's a bit warm.  I haven't been outside yet but everyday I've been here it's been warm...a nice change from the 60's at home!  

I am thinking...about my upcoming flights and how I have to fly to the east coast to fly to the west; about home and wondering how my plants are doing, how the kitties & puppy are and how much I'm looking forward to seeing my husband!  I've missed him.

I am thankful for...so many things!  I'm thankful for the time I had with my grandmother when I was a child and for the memories I now have.  I'm thankful I was able to make it to her funeral.  I'm thankful I was able to see my Aunts & Uncles again...it can be hard with us all spread out, from WA to FL to MA and places in between.  I'm thankful I was able to see and spend time with my grandpa again.  I'm thankful he's happy and where he wants to be.

From the kitchen...I've been eating out for the past 5 days and I'm ready for a home cooked meal!  I'm not sure what we have in our fridge...I may have to go grocery shopping tomorrow.  There were a few pans that I wanted my husband to clean while I was gone....I'm hoping he's done it!

I am wearing...jeans and a striped top.  I get cold on airplanes.

I am creating...My grandmother loved jewelry and she had a lot of costume items.  I was able to get a few of them and I'm looking forward to using them in some projects.  I have a really pretty cameo broach and a largish cross pendant along with some smaller pins.  I know I'll be able to use them and then remember Granny when I see them.

I am going...home!  I'll be leaving for the airport soon.  From Little Rock, AR I'll be headed to Charlotte, NC and then on to Seattle, WA.  Have I mentioned how annoying it is to fly to the east coast to then head west?!?!?  

I am reading...Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.  I'm only a few pages into it.

I am hoping...for a smooth flight.  That Grandpa will be okay. 

I am hearing...the water running in another room and the traffic outside.

Around the house...it's clean!  My husband told me he was cleaning when I talked to him last night.

One of my favorite things...time with loved ones.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  return phone calls & emails, play with the puppy, kiss my husband and enjoy life.

FOR TODAY, September 13, 2010

Outside my window...the sun is shining in through the sliding doors and as I look out I can see a new spider web has been made overnight.  There are tons of spiders here and I'm not a fan!  I can also see some leaves that are starting to change.  I just noticed that even though the sun is shining there's a bunch of gray clouds..enjoying the sunshine while it lasts!  There's also a slight breeze as I see the flag softly fluttering.

I am thinking...of the things that need to be done today and this week and trying to remember to pray continually. 

I am thankful for...the the sushine.  That my husband collected the trash and brought it down to be collected today since I forgot it do it last night.  That God loves me and He is trustworthy.

From the learning rooms...no kids yet, but I'm thankful that God is still teaching and growing me.  I'm learning about waiting for His timing. 

From the kitchen...at the moment it's covered in dirty dishes.  I think I'll make some soup later. 

I am wearing...gray pants and a green t-shirt.  I'll change before heading out in a little while!

I am creating...organization in the sewing room, finally.  There's still a ways to go but I started on it.  I'm also learning to crochet and am practicing...I think I'm making a doll blanket!

I am going...to the post office in a little while and to the monthly sales meeting later tonight.

I am reading...the Bible.  I have a couple of other books to read for fun but haven't started them yet.  When I put it off like this it usually means I haven't been able to get into the book...I'll keep trying.  Maybe!

I am praying...for a good week.  To find my sense of equilibrium.  That God's will be done.  To stop worrying & stressing about things!

I am hearing...music playing softly from my iPod, Miss Molly snoring and several large trucks driving by.

Around the house...it is in need to straightening & cleaning.  My husband was home for the weekend and I can tell!  I also tend to not to many chores on the weekends which results in us trying to grow another dog, laundry all over the bedroom floor and dishes in the sink.  Cleaning will commence shortly!

One of my favorite things...I looked up and saw Iggymans napping in the sun.  I love my kitties.  I also really like sunny mornings. 

A few plans for the rest of the week: keep the house together, phone calls, getting the sewing room together, play group, crocheting lesson

Simple Women's Daybook, September Edition

 FOR TODAY, September 6, 2010

Outside my window...is an introduction to fall.  The sky is gray and overcast.  It's doing that misty not quite rain thing that the Pac NW is famous for.  It's chilly and  I can see some leaves starting to change swaying in the breeze.

I am thinking...how did it become September all ready? 

I am thankful for...my husband.  I've been feeling a bit under the weather and he's been great taking care of me.  For medicine that helps me feel better!  And for a great weekend away with safe travel, good food, nice weather and time with the in-laws.

From the kitchen...there's some buffalo chicken soup simmering away in the crock pot for dinner.  I'm hoping The Man will bake some bread today too.

I am wearing...comfy clothes...gray pants and a t-shirt.

I am creating...not much at the moment.  My sewing room is still in disarray.  I'm going to need to get it organized soon or my head will explode with all the idea swimming around in there!

I am going...no where today! 

I am reading...Dreamers by Angela Hunt.

I am hoping...that I stop coughing up a lung soon.  That my husband has a great week at work.  That we'll be able to nail down plans for late fall (ha!)   

I am hearing...my husband eating his lunch of ramen noddles with Family Guy on in the background.  You can also hear my coughing a lot and if you strain, you can hear the cars on the highway.

Around the house...is a puppy sleeping on the sofa and two kitties sleeping on our bed.  There are new shelves downstairs and they are crying out for stuff to be put on them. 

One of my favorite things...three day weekends.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Moms and friends group starts up this week, hoping to get together with a friend if the coughing goes away and I have phone calls to make.  I don't love making phone calls but they must be made!

The Simple Woman's Day Book

For Today, August 25, 2010

Outside my window...it's bright and sunny out with a gentle breeze.  I'm enjoying it cause I think there's rain on the way tomorrow.


I am thinking...I have a lot of phone calls to make!

I am thankful for...my amazing husband who vacuumed for me today since I was out working for most of the day.  He also made dinner tonight...I'm so blessed by him!



From the kitchen...homemade pizza.  It smells delicious!

I am wearing...A green shirt and khaki shorts.

I am creating...I'm trying to figure out what kind of shelves I want in the sewing room.  I'm also getting ready to pain the sewing room...then I can get back to sewing!

I am going...nowhere at the moment.  Bible study is here tonight!

I am reading...Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban.  I'm rereading it for the 11th time (at least!)

I am hoping...that today was profitable for my business

I am hearing..Mythbusters season 1 is on the tv and traffic outside.

Around the house...things are calm at the moment.  I have a kitty beside me and a puppy on the floor.  Also the two rosebushes outside gotten taken out today!  We're very excited about it...now we can get started on the garden.

One of my favorite things...picking blackberries with The Man.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  I have two more shifts at the county fair.  We might head into the city this weekend...or maybe we'll stay home.
